Telkom app recently released an app that brings together all their customer services. Here’s review of some of their features and overall performance.
Initial setup and interface
Once you install the app for the first time, make sure that the Telkom SIM card is active on the device. A one-time-PIN (OTP) will be sent to you to facilitate linking your line with the app account. After this step, you can access the app even when your Telkom line is not in the device. The interface is dominantly white and blue, with selected tabs being yellow, the three brand colors of Telkom. A side menu hosts all the options, but the most used functions are also available on tabs below the app interface.
This section gives you all your account balances in a glance. Here you will find the credit balance, data balance, expiry dates for both data and credit and ziada points balance.
This section lets you top up your credit through a variety of ways. You can enter the digits of a scratch card, or via MPESA. In case you want to do it online, pesapal makes it possible straight from the app. Emergency credit can be obtained from the Telkom PEWA service.
All Telkom bundles for data, talk and text are conveniently available in one section of the interface. You simply tab on your desired bundle to buy; no need for entering the codes.
Customers can get support from the app through a dedicated customer care section and an FAQ page. The app also lets you locate Telkom shops close to you.
The app is very snappy and fluid in performance. It is faster than most telco apps we have reviewed in the past. It is also very small in size clocking less than 3Mbs.
